Students and Aviation Pros Connect at VNY Job Shadow Day
On February 22, 2018 VNY will connect area students with airport aviation-related professional
for an insider look into industry carriers during VNY’s annual Job Shadow Day.
About Job Shadow Day:
Job Shadow Day is an annual event held in partnership with union Achievement of Southern California (JASC)
that connects local high school students with aviation-related business mentors t
to learn about the diverse career opportunities at Van Nuys airport.
What:
Van Nuys Airport and Junior Achievement of Southern California are hosting the annual Job Shadow Day at VNY.
VNY’s tenants participate in this event by mentoring local high school students on careers in aviation.
The event places students into various professional and trade occupations at businesses around the airport.
The program provides a unique opportunity for area youth to experience firsthand the excellent jobs
that exist in their community.
When:
Thursday, Feb. 22, 2018 tarting at 9:00 a.m.
Job Shadow Schedule
9:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. Students arrive and pair with Mentors
10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Job Shadowing with Mentors
1:00 p.m. Bus Departs
Who:
Students from Van Nuys High School and NVOC Aviation Campus
Companies representing aviation trade and professional occupations
including airport aviation businesses, LAFD Fire Station #114, North Valley Occupational Center,
the Airtel Plaza Hotel and VNY.
Where:
Van Nuys Airport Observation Area: located off of Woodley Avenue
at the end of Waterman Drive near LAFD Fire Station #90,
adjacent to the east side of the airfield.
