TUGNET September 4 – Picking the Best Backup Approach
WELCOME to the TUGNET interactive experience. Our Club is all about members sharing ideas, problems and experiences for the benefit of all members.
Gene Barlow, a PC user pioneer, will present on backup methods for PCs. Mr. Barlow has an extensive PC use background. He managed the User Group Support organization for IBM in the early 1980s. He helped hundreds of user groups get started, earning the title of the Father of PC User Groups. He is an excellent presenter, easy to follow for beginners and experts alike. Backing up your hard drive on a regular basis is the most important process that all PC users must do on a regular basis to protect their computer from a crash or virus attack. Anti-virus utilities are not always completely reliable. Only a good backup can protect you 100% from a total loss of your computer system. There are many backup approaches that are promoted as being all you need to do. Most of these approaches provide only a partial protection of your system. Although Mr. Barlow favors Acronis, he will describe the four most popular backup approaches used today and tell you the strengths and weaknesses of each one. After attending this presentation, you will be able to determine which backup approach is best for you.
