Fireworks Expected to Fill Shelters to Capacity
Los Angeles, June 29, 2016 – Every year around the Fourth of July, LA Animal Services shelters fill to capacity with hundreds of terrified and lost pets. During this challenging time, available shelter space can be the difference between life and death and YOU can make that differencefor a shelter pet by fostering for four days or more or adopting.
The loud sounds of July 4th fireworks frighten dogs and cats causing them to run in fear. Many of these dogs and cats can’t find their way home and end up at our City shelters. These pets are counting on us to help reunite them with their families.
With the influx of lost pets and the orphaned pets already in our care at our busy shelters, we could run out of room for them to stay especially for the loving dogs and cats who have been with us for awhile. We need YOUR help right now to create life-saving space in our City shelters.
We have hundreds of wonderful dogs and cats of all ages, breeds and sizes waiting to be your best friend forever or temporary companion for a few days. Adopt or foster a shelter pet today. By helping a shelter pet in need, YOU are DIRECTLY SAVING LIVES of animals from our overcrowded shelters.
Every pet is spayed or neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and ready to be placed in a good home immediately. PLUS adoption fees for all dogs and kittens are $10, from July 1 through July 3, courtesy of Best Friends Animal Society. Adoption fees for cats four months and older are 100% underwritten by the ASPCA.
To volunteer to foster, download your application at LAAnimalServices.com/volunteer/foster-program or go to the City animal shelter nearest you and ask for a Foster Volunteer application. Take your completed form to the shelter and we’ll get you fostering a pet right away.
The shelters are open Tuesday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. We will be closed on the Fourth of July. To find the shelter closest to you, visit: LAAnimalServices.com/shelters or call (888) 452-7381.
With your help, we can save more lives in the City of Angels! Our heartfelt thanks will be nothing compared to the lifetime of memories and unconditional you will get from your furry friend.
