About 300 stakeholders came out for our “Let Your Voice Be Heard” Open House on Saturday, April 22 at New Horizons. Attendees met their Board Members, Elected Representatives, enjoyed Muddy’s BBQ and scored some great freebies. Board Member and Master of Ceremonies Sam Kwasman wowed the crowd with a versatile repertoire of skills. The fabulous Monroe High School Jazz Band entertained us with several of their toe tapping numbers.

City Council Member, Mitchell Englander greeted the crowd and spoke about issues he is working on that affect North Hills West. Brian Sledge, of Assembly Member Nazarian’s office and Benita Trujillo  of Supervisor Sheila Kuehl’s office addressed our stakeholders as well. Semee Park, Director of Neighborhood Council Operations and Gibson Nyambura, our newly assigned NEA, were there to cheer us on.  LAFD Auxiliary Communications Services was on hand providing emergency preparedness information including Map Your Neighborhood, water storage for emergencies, and amateur radio classes.

We also rubbed elbows with a few celebrities in our midst, Bill Farmer, the well known voice of Walt Disney’s Goofy, Gerry Bednob who appeared in The 40 Year Old Virgin, and Mark Silverman, the voice of Rod Serling in the Tower of Terror Ride at Disneyland.

Many stakeholders took this opportunity to identify issues needing attention. They signed up for our newsletters and the Board will be identifying how best to address these issues.

Thank you to all who volunteered to make this event possible and to those who attended!
