Be sure to catch one or more of our 5 great speaker sessions:
10:00 am to 10:30 am – Dan Tomlinson, Retired Manhattan Beach Police Officer and ACS Communications Coordinator for LAFD B10 & B17 will discuss how to cope when the power goes out after a disaster, including options for safely providing your own electrical power when the grid goes down.
10:45 am to 11:15 am – Dr. Julian Lozos, Seismologist at Cal. State Univ. Northridge will explain how earthquake faults work, where that shaking comes from, and how our public infrastructure, including homes, hi-rises and above and below ground utilities will be affected.
11:30 am to 12:00 pm – Chief Michel Moore, LAPD’s top cop will tell us about LAPD’s disaster readiness and response plans to “protect and to serve” during and after a major disaster.  Remember, you’ll be on your own for several days or more!

1:00 pm to 1:30 pm – Diana Shepherd and William Daffer of the Calif. Emerg. Mobile Patrol Canine unit (C.E.M.P.) will tell us about these amazing animals and the rigors and training these wonderful search dogs and their handlers endure.  Did you know?  Search dogs have specialties!
In recognition of the commitment and tremendous value CERT members contribute to their communities, we will present the first 100 CERT volunteers with a special EP item for your kit.  Show us your course completion certificate, callout team ID, or your CERT vest at the CERT Appreciation booth.  Sandy Joseph and I will be there to say “Thank you” for your service!
So go on line at and register, print out your voucher, and save time at Registration and the line to get your free Family Starter EP Kit!  Then go grab a burger or a hot dog and enjoy all the fun things going on at the Fair!
We’ll see you Saturday, November 9th, at the Flyaway, 9:00 AM, for our next LBNC EP Meeting.  In the meantime, invite your friends and neighbors to the Fair this Saturday.  Hope to see you there!
