Its not just for CERT .. neighborhood people interested in watching might enjoy what CERT can do. People do not need to sign up – Eventbrite limits the number of tickets now so I don’t want people seeing it is full and then not come.
When: Sunday, November 12th, 2023
Time: 1:00pm – 4:00pm
Where: Senator Caroline Menjivar’s Auditorium
6150 Van Nuys Blvd.
Van Nuys, CA 91401
Note the additional hour for the drill – We will go from 1pm to 4pm.
Scenario: Earthquake (because why not?)
We will pretend that our valley was affected by a 6.0 quake that rocked, but did not devastate, the entire valley floor. You were aware there was a CERT Community meeting being held at the Auditorium so after taking care of yourself, your family, and your neighbors – you decide to go to the Auditorium to check on your fellow CERTs.
When you arrive at the Auditorium – the drill begins.
Your choices will be between 2 main roles: Search & Rescue – Medical
Ø If you would like to try your hand at one of the Key roles below, please email me and we can install you in that role. Other roles such as Tarp Leader and Team leader will be assigned that day.
¨ Incident Commander, Logistics, Operations, Medical Supervisor, Staging Manager
Everyone will check into Staging, get assignments; meet the team and report to the designated area/assignment.
Your Responsibility: To record and report what is seen and what is done throughout the drill (Form 214). Note, all Form 214’s will be turned in at the end of the drill to the Leadership. Prizes will be handed out in December for the most complete forms 😊
Remember these key steps for START Triage:
Begin Assessment of “3 Tests” to determine Status
Reassess after 5-10 minutes
Bring your PPE (+flashlight, knee pads, walkie-talkie if you have one, clipboards, pens, paper, water and snacks, etc.)
Reminder that since Eventbrite has limited the free ticket sales to 25 – if it says ‘sold out’ – you can still show up.
