Although the use of fireworks is illegal in all of L.A., each year thousands of people are injured,
hundreds of fires are started and thousands of pets are lost around the 4th of July.
In an effort to help educate our community regarding fireworks dangers, the Health & Public Safety Committee
will host a Special Neighborhood Watch Meeting on Sat., 6/24.
The Meeting will start at 10 AM at the West Valley LAPD office at 19020 Vanowen St. (near Wilbur).
Residents will hear from guest speakers covering topics of neighborhood concern:
Illegal vs Safe & Sane Fireworks,
How to Report Illegal Fireworks Use,
and Mitigating Illegal Fireworks and Educating Neighbors.
Free First Aid training will also be taught on how to treat burn victims as a result of fireworks.
Babies, and young children are especially susceptible.
Lake Balboa Neighborhood leaders and LB Neighborhood Watch block leaders (only)
will also receive FREE NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH STREET SIGNS and MOUNTS
for posting in their neighborhoods. Sign quantity is limited and neighbors must have a list of streets
(name & block #) where signs will be posted.
JUNE 1 – JULY 4TH IS FIREWORKS SAFETY MONTH.
