A great way to learn about and practice emergency communications. To communicate effectively in time of disaster requires the Joe Fridayapproach: Just the facts.
This class will consist of hands-on training drills using a two-way radio. As a bonus, members of the emergency communication group LAFD ACS (LAFD-Auxiliary Communication Service) as well as LAFD CERT will be on hand to encourage you to become better radio operators.
Learn how to efficiently communicate on a walkie-talkie radio so that when the time comes, you’ll be prepared! This series of radio trainings is open to all people interested in emergency radio communication using FRS/GMRS radios, aka, Walkie-Talkies or “blister pack radios.”
If you have an FRS or GMRS radio, please bring to the meeting. Remember to have fresh or fully-charged batteries installed in the radio(s). Don’t worry if you don’t yet have a radio, they will have some for you to practice with during the meeting.
