Find Out How CalKIDS Can Support Your Family’s College and Career Training Expenses
When I immigrated to the United States, I knew my path to college included saving, in order to make my American dream a reality. It was because of saving, that I was able to pay for my college education, with the support of my family.
When I joined the legislature, I wanted to make saving for college and career expenses easier for everyone. This year, after a great deal of work, the Governor fully funded my CalKIDS College Savings Program to the tune of $1.9 Billion, ensuring every child born after July 1, 2022 has a 529 Scholarshare savings account automatically opened in their name.
As of today, over 3.4 Million California children now have a college savings account, making it the largest college savings program in the nation. Now, parents, loved ones and caregivers can contribute to an investment account to aide in the cost of college and career-training expenses of their children. Depending on income, children in California could be eligible for up to a $1,500 deposit from the state and additional deposits every year after, dependent on funding allocated by the State Legislature, to supplement family contributions.
Next Thursday, November 17th at 3:30PM my office will be hosting a webinar with the State Treasurer’s Office, who administers the CalKIDS program, to share more information about the program. If you would like to hear more about the program, please register for the webinar via this link. I hope you will join me to hear how this program can benefit your family.
Thank you for the opportunity to serve.
