Mechanical Digital Computer

Jim Ubersetzig, will be presenting this information.

Jim will show us an interactive mechanical computer he built that provides visualization to learn how logic gates (the basic building blocks used in computers) are used to provide the operations of an electronic digital computer.

This machine operates slow enough to allow us time to view and understand each logic gate as it contributes to the operations of a complete digital computer.

In contrast to this slow operation, modern electronic computers perform thousands of millions of operations per second of time – which does not allow enough time to visualize internal details as they happen.

This should be fascinating to see a computer in operation.
