    1. Jill Stewart, update on community plans, general plan, and vacancy data.
  1. David Ryu, Councilmember and chairs the Health, Education and Neighborhood Council Committee. to hear from Boardmembers on issues facing the system and get their opinions on pending issues such as stakeholder definition, the grievance process, subdivisions, NC funding equity, and more.

  • The Los Angeles Neighborhood Council Coalition (LANCC) (XXXXXX) Neighborhood Council has grave concerns about the preparedness of Los Angeles and its residents in the event of an emergency. After seeing the hurricane devastation of Harvey, Irma, and Maria, in Texas, Florida, and Puerto Rico and the earthquakes of Mexico City Los Angeles’ residents need to be more prepared. One of the ways that the City of Los Angeles can prepare its residents for an emergency is through the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) training. Currently the LAFD has four instructors for a population of 3.976 million residents. The Los Angeles Neighborhood Council Coalition (LANCC) (XXXXXX) Neighborhood Council requests that the City Council fund an additional four instructors at a cost of $120,000 per year per instructor ($480K) to allow the scheduling of additional class so that Los Angeles can be better prepared for in the event of a disaster.
  •  The Los Angeles Neighborhood Council Coalition (LANCC) (XXXXXX) Neighborhood Council has received many complaints and concerns from property owners and business owners who are or will be affected by the trash franchise system called RecycLA. LANCC supports the City’s efforts to have cleaner air, more recycling, and less trucks on the streets, but not at the cost to property owners and business owners. The main concerns we have heard from the business community are: 1. Bullying tactics by sales representatives to sign contracts. 2. Charging fees that do not correspond to the City’s agreed fee schedule. 3. Missed pick-ups that are charged for. 4. Phone calls to the waste hauler franchisee and to the City’s 800 number are rarely returned. We ask that the City investigates and resolves the issues, and if not, cancels the current contracts until the City can create a program that is fair and meets the needs of the business and property owners community.
