Hi, Everybody! Hope you had wonderful holidays and that you’re all ready to get back to work on preparing ourselves, our neighborhoods and our communities for Emergencies and Disasters. We’ll be meeting this Saturday, June 9th 9:00 to 11:00 AM, at the Flyaway Bus Terminal in the Community Meeting Room on the 2nd Floor, located at 7610 Woodley Avenue (NE Corner of Saticoy and Woodley) in Lake Balboa, 91406. GO INSIDE and take the elevator at the north end of the building, or climb the steps outside. Plenty of FREE PARKING in the short-term lot out front in the spaces closest to Woodley Ave.
Hope you all had a chance to get to the SOS Survival Products Sale this past weekend. It was a good one! Between us, Rick and I bought 5 of those great Midland All Hazard Weather radios, 3 for gifts and 2 for us! They’re really nifty — you can set them so they come on automatically if there’s a hazard in your area — tornado, hurricane, brush fire, etc., so that you have time to take precautions or even evacuate before disaster strikes! Look for them if you haven’t seen them yet!
Our monthly EP Meeting is this Saturday, June 9th, 9:00 to 11:00 AM, at the Flyaway Bus Terminal in the 2nd Floor Community Meeting Room, 7610 Woodley Avenue (NE corner of Saticoy and Woodley) in Lake Balboa, 91406. ERIN HUEY, INSTRUCTOR EXTRAORDINAIRE, has 3 classes coming up at SOS Survival Products in the next couple of months and she’s going to tell us about them. This is a great “heads-up” for us before the public gets in there and reserves all the spots!!! Also there are changes in the way we treat heat victims that you should know about as the summer hits! Who better to give us training in that area?!? Come be with us for Erin’s words of wisdom!
If you purchased new FRS radios at the SOS Sale, bring them along so Dan Tomlinson can show you how to set them up. And don’t forget our Amateur Radio (Ham) Net every Sunday, 9:00 AM, Simplex 145.570, and FRS/GMRS/Walkie-Talkie Net every Sunday at 10:00 AM, Channel 5 (3 if 5 is busy).
Also, this Sunday, June 10th, is our Monthly Battalion 10 CERT Community Meeting, 12:30 to 2:30 PM at the Van Nuys/Sherman Oaks Adult Rec Center at 5056 Van Nuys Blvd., Sherman Oaks, 91403 in the Auditorium. This month’s meeting is on Wound Care and Head to Toe Review. You do not have to be CERT trained to attend these Community Meetings. They are open to the public, and free of charge! Meetings start and end promptly on time! Plenty of Free Parking in the lot on the corner.
