Hi, Everybody: Sadly, September’s Lake Balboa NC Emergency Preparedness Meeting will have to be postponed until later in the month. Stay tuned for more info!
PLEASE GO TO: info@ValleyDisasterFair.com and register for the Linda and Bill Hopkins 2020 Valley Disaster Preparedness Fair on Saturday, October 10, 2020. Click on the black “Registration Opens” box near the top of the page. Once you are registered, you will have instructions on how to print out your voucher to receive one of our great Family EP Starter Kits that you will be able to pick up later in the month.
As you know, Bill Hopkins, Chair of the Fair for many years, passed away earlier this year. It was Bill’s fondest hope that we, the Emergency Preparedness Community, keep the Fair going and continue bringing EP awareness to all. We of the Southern California Preparedness Foundation are endeavoring to do this!
The Fair will all be on line this year — presentations and classes and vendor availability right there in the comfort of your own home! No heat to endure, no standing in lines, but all the great info you love at the Fair. Join us from 9:00AM to 1:00PM on 10/10/2020!
CERT is holding great trainings on line for local CERT teams, which we in Lake Balboa will be establishing in the near future. You do NOT have to be CERT trained to take these trainings, and I urge all who possibly can to please do so. Info on past 2 trainings will be available as well.
Upcoming Trainings:
Leading Medical Response Teams
Wednesday, September 16th, 7pm-9pm Pacific Time
Register on Eventbrite:
CERT Medical Response Teams will need to respond after a disaster to provide basic and life-saving first-aid until professional responders can arrive.
What you do in the hours following a disaster will save lives.
- But what does a Medical Response Team do?
- What are the core components and roles?
- Can you be a member of a team but not have first-aid training?
- What does the role of Team Leader do and should I be one?
Learn how to put together an efficient CERT Medical Response Team and how that team should respond when doing initial triage and treatment at the tarp.
This meeting will be hosted on Microsoft Teams. You must register on this Eventbrite and to be sent the link to join the Microsoft Teams.
Registration ends 15 minutes before the training begins.

Everybody please stay safe and healthy! I just got word that my granddaughter Margaret in college back east is showing symptoms of Covid-19 and has been sent for testing. (No, she is not a “party girl”, and is careful about always wearing her mask when she’s out and social distancing!) If you are so inclined, please say a little prayer for her or send some good vibes her way! Thank you!
Hugs to all during this crazy year we’re having! Questions?
