Hi, Everybody:  I hope your holidays were happy and healthy and spent with those you love!  Now it’s time to “get back at it” in our quest for emergency preparedness for our families and our neighborhoods!
We invite you to join us for our Emergency Preparedness Meeting, this Saturday, February 8th, 9:00 to 11:00 AM in the Flyaway Bus Terminal 2nd Floor Community Room (take the ELEVATOR JUST INSIDE the building, or the STEPS OUTSIDE, at 7610 Woodley Ave. (NE Corner of Saticoy and Woodley) in Lake Balboa.  Plenty of FREE PARKING out front in the short term lot in the spaces closest to the street.
EP GURU ERIN HUEY will be our guest speaker (we’re so lucky to have her!!!), and she’ll be talking to us about “Bugging Out!”  And if you aren’t familiar with that term, you REALLY need to attend this meeting!  🙂   Fires, Floods, Terrorist Attack?  How many reasons can you think of why we might have to leave our homes?  Are you ready to go???  And, we’ll also ask Erin some questions about the Corona Virus — Pandemic?  Epidemic?  Should we even be concerned about it?
Please don’t forget the animals!  Nights are VERY COLD now!  Please bring contributions for Operation Blankets of Love for animals in Shelters, and pets owned by the Homeless.  Needed items include clean/new blankets and towels, collars and leashes, food and treats, stainless steel food bowls, crates, igloos, and carriers, litter, flea meds, and other dog and cat related items.  CITY SHELTERS HAVE NO BUDGET FOR COMFORT ITEMS, AND CONCRETE FLOORS GET REALLY COLD AT NIGHT!!!  We also need mascara wands washed in hot water/Dawn Dishwashing Soap for cleaning/medicating tiny creatures in North Carolina Wildlife Centers.
Remember our Sunday Morning Lake Balboa Amateur Radio Net every Sunday at 9:00 AM, Simplex 145.570.  Also, our FRS/GMRS/Walkie-Talkie Check In every Sunday at 10:00 AM, Channel 15, 17 if 15 is busy.
Valentines Day is Friday, February 14th!  Remember your  nearest and dearest with an Emergency Preparedness Gift or class to go along with the flowers and candy!  You might save a life by doing so!!!   🙂
