Hi, Everybody:  Yaaaay, it’s that time again!  Our Emergency Preparedness Meeting is this Saturday, February 11th, 9:00 – 11:00 AM, at the Flyaway Bus Terminal Community Room on the 2nd Floor (take the elevator INSIDE the building or the steps OUTSIDE), 7610 Woodley Avenue (NE corner of Saticoy and Woodley), in Lake Balboa 91406.  Plenty of FREE PARKING in the short-term lot out front in the spaces closest to Woodley Ave.
This month, Dan Tomlinson will be teaching a 101+++ Radio Class — everything you’ve been wanting to know about Walkie-Talkie, FRS, GMRS and HAM Radios!  This class is meant for the “newbies” to radio communications, all the way to those not quite up to “expert”!  We all know that when the big one hits, (and in other disasters as well), communications will be one of the first essentials affected.  This is your chance to get all those nagging questions answered.  If you have problems with your current radio, bring it along and let Dan help you with a solution, or guide you to someone else who can help.
Don’t forget to register for our FREE CERT (Community Emergency Response Team) Training Classes coming up, (taught by Susan Jensen, Firefighter with the LAFD), beginning Thursday evening, March 2nd, for 7 weeks, 6:30 to 9:00 PM at Magnolia Science Academy, 17125 Victory Blvd. (west of Balboa, between Balboa and Louise).  NOTE CHANGE OF VENUE!!!  Plenty of FREE Parking.  Take the driveway off Victory Blvd.  This class is a life changer, teaching you how to care for yourself, your family, your neighbors and co-workers when (NOT IF!!!), disaster strikes!  See CERT Class syllabus below.

Then, register with LAFD at cert-la.com/eventbrite.  Scroll down the page to the Lake Balboa Class and click on the CERT image on the far left.  That will take you to the Registration Page.  Register.  You do not have to print out the tickets.  If the page states that the class is closed, come the first night anyway, as there MAY BE OPENINGS!
There will be a lovely gift for all candidates who become certified by completing all 7 classes.  If you have to miss a class, you can make it up with other CERT Class Presentations later.  We will help you.
