The Los Angeles League of Women Voters will be presenting a very important community discussion on the topic of Community Policing. LAPD is a pioneering agency in this effort that is being introduced throughout the country. Our special guest speaker will be Sgt. Thomas Datro, who has been a college professor, a police officer both on patrol and undercover, and a training specialist at the Police Academy. Community Policing is based upon a partnership of shared responsibility between the community and police to identify, reduce, eliminate, and prevent problems that impact community safety. By working together, the police and the community can reduce the fear and incidence of crime and improve the quality of life in neighborhoods citywide.
