August 16th – Documentation and Radio Communication lecture (Jonathan Zimmerman)
Battalion 10 CERT Community Meeting, Sunday, August 16, 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm
NOTE the extended time for this meeting only. CERT community meetings are open to all.
Topic: Emergency communication skills which are useful on any medium–radios, phones, written messages, etc.–Jonathan Zimmerman (K6JGZ), CERT liaison for the City’s Auxiliary Communications Service (ACS),
will present information on how to properly and effectively communicate during a disaster.
In CERT, the mantra is “greatest good for the greatest number of people.”
In disaster communications, it’s “the greatest content with the least number of words.”
This meeting has been extended an extra hour to offer some hands-on experience
for those who are able to stay past the usual end time of 3:00 pm.
If you have two-way radios (GMRS, FRS, ham, other), please bring to the meeting.
You may also wish to bring along the radio’s instruction manual.
Please ensure your radio’s batteries are fresh and/or fully charged.
Advisory: Due to the unusually high heat and humidity in the trailer, please bring extra water.
Until they fix the air conditioning, it is okay to wear light/cool clothes.
However, since it is a working fire station, and for safety reasons, please wear closed-toe shoes.
Please contact Christy Adair, Battalion 10 CERT Coordinator, at BaliBabi@aol.com, if you have any questions.
