April 19th is National Cat Lady Day

April 19th is National Cat Lady Day, so we’d like to acknowledge the tireless efforts of Cat Ladies (and Cat Daddys) everywhere who work daily to improve the lives of community cats through TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return), feeding them, fostering those willing to trust people to prepare them for adoption or advocating in their community for the humane treatment of cats who live among us.
We are deeply grateful for our original Cat Lady, Lynea Lattanzio, who founded our sanctuary after starting on her own path with an armful of bottle-babies. She has inspired many others around the world to get involved to help cats in their neighborhood. It’s a truism that saving one cat may not make a big difference to the world, but it makes a world of difference to that one cat! And it doesn’t take any great skill; just an open heart and some of your time.
We’re happy to see the negative stereotype of a Cat Lady transform with the recognition of their efforts to make the world a better place for cats. We meet Cat Ladies from all walks of life and look forward to welcoming many more of you to our community, however you choose to get involved either with us or with a rescue group or shelter where you live. We hope you’ll find an opportunity to visit us at The Cat House on the Kings, or get involved by volunteering to foster cats, manage a colony, organize TNR or raise funds for us or a local rescue.

Your kindness means everything to the animals in our care who came to us because they had nowhere else to go; they are now safe, happy and loved. You can make a lifesaving difference to a cat in our care hoping for a miracle by making a donationto help us save as many cats and kittens as we can and to give the cats in our care the best lives possible even if they never find a forever home with a family.
Thank you for celebrating those who care for cats in need. Please encourage and support those caregivers in your neighborhood so they can continue to provide this valuable community service.
